I’ve never been able to do morning yoga because my body is so stiff when I first wake up. The fact that I have an uncomfortable bed doesn’t help matters. The last several mornings my back has been extra sore, so I took to trusty Google and discovered some yoga poses I can do before I even get out of bed… Score! Drinking water is great to help with sore muscles too, but I wanted to give some in-bed yoga a shot too.
I gave those poses a try, and I was amazed at how much better I felt psychically and also mentally. I did three simple poses that I thought I’d share.
This one is a personal favorite of mine when I just need to gather my thoughts. I held this pose as soon as I woke up for 5 to 10 breaths before gently moving to the next pose.
Happy Baby Pose
Another favorite of mine! I can see why a baby would be happy doing this. It stretches the back and the legs and loosens up the hips. I also did this for 5 to 10 breaths.
For this last one I simply sat crossed legged and eyes closed for a few meditative breaths while I cleared my mind before I got out of bed and faced the day.
Now I’m thinking I will do this every morning, and hopefully one day can get more of a morning routine going.
