You should always remove your makeup before you go to bed. However, you should be especially careful when removing makeup around your eyes because the skin around your eyes is very delicate. Only an oil-based product will get waterproof makeup off.

According to Dr Gross, not removing your makeup at night will result in your pores and oil glands being clogged. Your pores will then become impacted with your makeup and, therefore, appear to be larger. Once your pores are enlarged, the levels of your collagen will decline and your pores won’t go back to their original size. Gross also claims inflammation can also occur due to the enlargement of your pores.

Gross recommends using a cleanser that contains antioxidants for protection, witch hazel which will act as an astringent, and salicylic acid that will help to clear your pores. A cleanser containing these ingredients will renew your skin overnight and put it into optimal condition.

When you are finished, pat dry your skin. Patting your skin dry will allow some moisture to remain in your skin.

Moisturize Your Skin

After cleansing your skin, it essential that you moisturize your skin. A moisturizer from a trusted skincare brand can work wonders in soothing the skin and you can always rely on them as your go-to sensitive skin treatment feature. Moisturizing your skin will protect your skin from the weather. If you don’t moisturize your skin, it will simply dry up and look dull. According to experts at Mayo Clinic, moisturizing your skin will help it to preserve and retain your skin’s natural moisture levels. The water in your skin will actually be sealed into it.

Sleep on Your Back and for at Least Eight Hours

According to Dr Gross, it is important to your overall healthy look for you to sleep at least eight hours every night. Dr. Gross explains that if you don’t get enough sleep, your skin will become pale and dull and those nasty under-eye circles will appear.

However, an even better approach is the position in which you sleep. Your sleep position does help you to avoid those wrinkles that add years to your age. The pillow you sleep on may be the cause of wrinkles. All too often, wrinkles appear after you squish your face into a pillow. Sleeping on your back allows you to sleep without causing lines on your face formed by pressing your face into a pillow. In other words, you won’t develop wrinkles on your face.

Good Nutrition Will Create Healthy-Looking Skin

According to Dr Rubin of Web Md., your skin reflects your underlying health. Therefore, good nutrition is an important role in your creating healthy skin. The following foods will boost your chances of having beautiful, healthy skin:

  • Antioxidants – Vitamin A, C, and E are recommended by dermatologists as important for decreasing your risk of the sun or other damages caused by the environment. Foods rich in Vitamin A include pumpkin, carrots, butternut squash, spinach, sweet potatoes, mangoes, cantaloupe, Swiss chard, kale, greens, and tomato-vegetable juice.
  • Vitamin C – Foods rich in Vitamin C include grapefruit juice, orange juice, strawberries, papayas, red and green peppers, kiwis, tomato-vegetable juice, cantaloupes, broccoli, oranges, Brussels sprouts, mangoes, cauliflower, grapefruit, and kale.
  • Vitamin E – Foods rich in vitamin E include oils, olives, vegetable oils, nuts, spinach, seeds, and asparagus.
