I AM Yoga Challenge Day 5: I am creative
Today’s mantra is I am creative.
If you’re like most people who are alive and breathing, you probably doubt your creativity quite often. Unless you’re a professional artist of some sort, somewhere along the way, we were told to believe that there are creative people and non-creative people, and chances are you fell into the latter category.
The truth is that we ALL have creative potential if we’re willing to coax it out of its shell.
Whether you’re stuck in a rut in your creative life or in your yoga practice, this class will help you break through the mundane and introduce you to your wild, creative side 😉
Enjoy!
Over to you! Do you feel like you’re a creative person? How do you infuse creativity into your yoga practice?

January 6, 2017 at 7:15 amGreat start to my morning! Eagle is one of my favorite poses (along with crow and firefly). Usually, my creativity expresses itself through inversions and different ways of getting into them. But, I also like to play with how long I can hold poses.

January 6, 2017 at 10:36 amOften my creativity comes out during the balance poses in yoga and I use furniture or a wall to help me. Today I felt quite pleased with myself as I was able to get into Eagle Pose on both sides without any extra aid. I wobbled a lot and I had to set my foot back down once or twice until I felt steady, but I did do it!

January 6, 2017 at 11:41 amHa ha ha, Melanie! The dog crate often makes its way into my practice as an “unofficial but handy” prop. 🙂

January 6, 2017 at 5:15 pmi really loved this flow Erin! I loved the twists and stretches through down dog we did. This is definately a reminder I needed: I am creative, and i love that you shared with everyone that being creative is about thinking and/or doing things in different ways, coming up with different solutions for instance. Creativity doesn’t equal artistic ability and that’s something i always try to share with others, and I am glad someone else is too.

January 6, 2017 at 6:24 pmI loved the combination of strength and balance in this flow. One of my biggest challenges is to keep my head on the mat and stop my thoughts from wandering, and I think this practice was the most focused one I’ve had yet this year. As always, thank you! x

January 6, 2017 at 7:40 pmAny tips for increasing “wrapping” flexibility in eagle? I’d like to be able to get my foot around my calf eventually, but I’m not sure if it’s in the cards. Would also like to be more flexible in the upper body portion of that pose–right now I can touch my fingers on the lower hand to the bottom of the upper palm, but it’s hard. I’m not sure if it might also have to do with the fact that I have some extra fat on my arms and legs right now–thanks, winter hibernation and studying 24/7.

January 7, 2017 at 11:27 amJust wondering why my comment is “awaiting moderation?” I’d like to clarify, in case it was flagged for body hatred or some such, that I actually really like my curves and my body where it is at. I’m definitely hoping to have more time to work out this new year, and that has been going well so far–but that is mostly due to the fact that working out makes me feel better emotionally and energetically, not because of discomfort with my shape.

January 7, 2017 at 12:18 pmThis was a fun one – and I noticed that I am getting better at pushing to the poses that I think I can’t do. I do think I am a creative person, it’s just hard to find time to express it. Happy Saturday!

January 13, 2017 at 4:39 pmOnly a week late- last Friday my dog did a Ninja swipe on me during the storm and I went down hard– today I was able to be on my knee and use the hip and pressure on the ribs- so tada!! THAT being said- in a dog free room- this was a challenge but great- I need to work on my balance!! Good grief. Thanks!! ~m
