I AM Yoga Challenge Day 1: I am powerful
Repeat after me: I AM POWERFUL
Welcome to Day 1 of the I AM Yoga Challenge! I am SO excited to be on this journey with you. I promised that we’d uncover your inner bad*ss and that’s why Day 1 gets straight to the point 😉
Today’s class is a slow moving but strong practice. We’ll feel the strength in our bodies as we move with control from pose to pose, not taking any strength for granted. When we fly through our yoga classes it’s easy to skip over the details of our strength. Like when we move from one pose to the next without wobbling. Or when we finally come out of that Warrior II but think, “I could have stayed there even longer.”
Those things can get overlooked but here, we’re basking in them.
Enjoy!
Over to you! What pose or part made you feel most powerful in this class?

January 2, 2017 at 6:33 amWell, I wobbled myself straight through that one but it’s one I’ll come back to again and I feel strong and powerful going into my first week of the new year. Thanks for another great one, Erin!

January 2, 2017 at 6:40 amI haven’t been doing yoga for a few months and my body was telling me it was time to get back to yoga. This challenge is a great way to do that! I was surprised at being able to flow from standing to warrior 3 with ease the first time then I lost my focus and rest were a bit wobbly. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings, but today I am powerful!

January 2, 2017 at 5:15 pmI’m not very good at yoga but having done your 30 day challenge a couple of years ago I was amazed at the strength and flexibility it gave me. Working 2 jobs and being in school full time I vowed come 2017 I was going to carve out time to exercise and get back on track and BAM! there in my FB feeds was this challenge. I knew I had to join it. Ironically I am studying exercise science and have no time to exercise! Thank you Erin for getting me started on the right (or left) foot this year!

January 2, 2017 at 6:24 pmI don’t know exactly WHEN it happened , or maybe I do.. but lifting my legs was almost impossible- but I improvised- I have gone back to my old standard ballet excersizes as well as the yoga you provide and it helps- I just need to remember to take time for myself I don’t seem to anymore. Ironically it’s what I preach all the time to others! Today was hard – I got most of the way through most of the time- I slowly pushed through- but it felt good- looking forward to tomorrow and getting on an actual routine. And moving again. Thank YOU! ~m

January 2, 2017 at 6:39 pmThank you so much for this class. It allowed me to see how far I’ve progressed since doing your old 30 day yoga challenge on DYY so long ago. I’m sure that there will be days when Warrior 3 is a challenge again, but for today I felt the power in that pose easily.

January 2, 2017 at 10:15 pmI’ve always shied far away from yoga in general just because of the fears I had internalized. I just found Bad Yogi today and I’m so glad I did. I love the acceptance and how I feel after each class. Thank you for this.

January 2, 2017 at 10:30 pmThanks for this, great start to my year!! 🙂

January 2, 2017 at 11:33 pmThank you Erin! This was such an awesome flow, i really enjoyed how i was able to get into a rhythm I could follow as well as giving me something that challenged me. That step from lunge to high knee definately made me feel powerful and proud the 2 times i did it without wobbling. I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to start the challenge today after I’ve been sick all weekend, but decided to give it a try and felt so powerful (and tired too) during, and after it.

January 2, 2017 at 11:40 pmOne of my New Year’s resolutions is to get back into doing yoga on a more regular basis – daily would be ideal, but anything more than my current 1 to 2 days per week is a success. This was a great way to get started on that resolution! Thank you!

January 3, 2017 at 11:37 pmThank you so much for this challenge, I needed it so badly. I have tried a few others and was not able to keep up with the instructor even though it said beginner. I love that this is teaching me inner and outer I am challenges. My heart and soul have needed something like this. Thank you again.

January 4, 2017 at 11:26 amI was off the mat (and off the grid – camping and hiking our local mountains) yesterday so my “Day 1” is today – what an awesome way to start a powerful year! THANKS!

January 5, 2017 at 3:27 pmThis is my first time doing one of your routines and the first time I have done yoga (really any exercise for exercise’s sake) for probably 6 months. I knew it would be difficult as I am just getting over a cold, but I caught myself smiling when I could feel myself getting into the rhythm of the movements. I know I’m a few days behind (dang this cold!) but I am really looking forward to catching up and the rest of the challenge!

January 18, 2017 at 8:43 amStarting this challenge with the start of spring classes, that way I have at least one fun – if not short and sweet- class at the beginning of the semester. This one definitely made me wobble. Who knew your balance is so easy to lose over winter break???

January 24, 2017 at 11:55 amI’m 56 yrs old….I’ve done yoga here and there all my life but never steady. Actually, I used to do shoulder stand while watching tv, when I was a young girl and had no idea it was a yoga pose….it just felt good. Eventually, life got in the way and I stopped….I shoulder stand no more. At my age now, after sitting for far too long, I’m feeling that stiff aching in my body and I’m hoping this challenge will finally get me on the right path & keep me there. This video is inspiring and uses some of my favorite go-to poses when I go to that is! Thanks for this challenge!

February 10, 2017 at 5:45 amStarted the challenge now 🙂 And I will have to say that goddess pose makes me feel the most powerful – especially as I use to hate that one, and can always feel how much stronger I have become in that one. Great and inspiring class 🙂
