Q&A Wednesday

What’s happening with the 30 Day Yoga Challenge?!

The original 30 Day Yoga Challenge was HUGE and it meant so much to so many of you. I was saddened to take it down but have some much anticipated news about when it’ll be back…

First, I just want to say how much this challenge means to me. When I first started teaching yoga, I always felt so out of place and like I didn’t belong. I eventually found my tribe of students and friends, but we were still very much on the fringe of the yoga community. I knew I wasn’t alone and when I created the 30 Day Yoga Challenge, I wanted it to feel like something anyone could do and feel welcome doing.

I didn’t want people to feel like they had to be a certain way or have certain experiences to enjoy these classes, and that’s exactly what happened. People from all over the world felt like they could do yoga without having to change who they were.

I hope you’ll join us on October 1, 2016 when we bring back the Original Yoga Challenge. 30 days of daily yoga right to your inbox, and every class is under 20 minutes long.

My daughter told me about the 30 day challenge a few years ago and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had wanted to try yoga and had bought myself a DVD and was attempting it but I gotta tell ya, the instructors and class attendees on the DVD were a bit, well, uppity. The moves were probably okay but I felt out of place and I was by myself in the living room. So when I looked for the 30 day challenge I was pleasantly surprised! You explained things well so that I could try to figure out a move that was strange to me, you made it fun to be there, and I found myself looking forward to “my class” each day. Once again looking forward to receiving my new challenge!! I have an out of state friend who I talked into trying it and she loves it and as it turns out, her birthday is the same day you start it again! Great birthday gift!

This is totally how I discovered you and it was my first introduction to yoga. I still have the emails saved from when I was taking the challenge almost three years ago. The links stopped working long time ago, but I couldn’t bring myself to delete the emails. I signed up of course, and can’t wait to do it at the same time with everybody else. Yay!

The 30-Day Yoga challenge is how I found Bad Yogi, so I’m thrilled to see it come back. Sadly, I only made it through four classes last time I took the challenge, so I’m determined to stay on track with it in October. Although, I’ll be in Paris for business for a few days, so I hope I don’t lose momentum again. I will definitely look forward to daily reminders in my in-box and learning something new. Thanks, Erin!

Cannot wait for the return – what you were seeking to offer when you created the program is exactly what it offered me –

I did the 30 day yoga challenge less than a year ago (in November).
It was one of the first classes I took online and ever. 🙂

If I remember correct you introduced crow at day 7….horrible and scary. :S
So I surrounded me with A LOT of pillows to fall on…and followed your instructions.
It was so fun, loved it (and didn’t tip on my nose or on any pillow), I was hooked! 😀

I’m really excited and looking forward to October the 1st! 🙂

Woohoo! So glad it’s coming back! I did the challenge a couple times as I was first starting to get into yoga, but now that I have a more solid practice, I love using the challenge videos as a supplement to target my tense areas! I think I turn to the neck, hands, and lower back videos the most because those are areas where I definitely carry stress and other classes don’t seem to quite break through all the tension.

I’ve never done the 30 day challenge, but have looked forward to it! But I’ll be out of town, somewhere where I won’t have internet access for @ a wk of the challenge! Do you have to use the classes on the day they’re posted, or can you access them at a later date?

OMG YAY! I’ll be fresh out of the hospital with a newborn on the 1st, but I’m going to save these for when I’m able to start back up exercising. I loved this challenge the first several times and can’t wait to do it again!

So excited – 30 Day was my first foray into Yoga. Love it and you and your style – have since bought 30 minutes classes, did the 8 week Perfect Body Yoga Program and was about to start over but I think I will do the 30 day again first. Getting my sister to give it a try too! Thanks!

Your 30-day challenge was what got me to regular exercise again and frankly, I was looking for a yoga teacher I could really connect with for more than 5 years – I would go to one class, try it out and then never come back to that person because it didn’t felt quite right.

Until I met you. Your style is exactly what I need, and so is your approach and I really love your Bad Yogi attitude.

So yay! for re-starting the challenge, time to restart my practice with it as well!

    With love and smiles

Woo hoo!! I am SO excited that this challenge is coming back :). Like many have mentioned, this was one of my first introductions to yoga and I loved it! Why did I love it? Well, first, I have had many previous injuries, and Erin was the first YouTube yoga instructor that I saw to offer so many modifications that allowed me to practice yoga pain free. Second, the first time I did the challenge, I was going through an incredibly tough time in my life where my Dad was extremely sick in the hospital. I started the challenge prior to his hospital stay, and really thought about stopping after he was admitted. But I decided that this was the best thing for me to do, to keep going, even if it meant struggling onto the mat after a long day at the hospital. This 30-Day challenge will always have a special place in my heart because it allowed me to remember that self-care is important during challenging times and it gave me the structured tool to do it! God bless you Erin and I can’t wait to roll out my mat again with you October 1st!

I’m so thrilled you’re bringing it back!! My natural doctor uses your videos and told me about you and I did your video for lower back and hip openers that helped sciatica just about every single day for months. It took the pain away and doing those moves everyday kept that sciatic nerve in check!! Thanks so much, you’ve been such a blessing!

Cannot wait!! While I’m on Round 2 of the amazing PBYP and loving it even more than the first round, I adore the 30 day yoga challenge and used to refer back to my favorite classes (particularly the hip opening classes) regularly. Excited to go through the whole challenge again. Thanks for all your hard work to get it back up and running! ✌?️??

This Q&A makes me extremely happy! I was desperately looking for one of the classes from there, some of those I´ve done so often and the one for hands and wrists is a common one for me when I´m practicing handstands and chaturanga that I might even know it by heart – so that will have to do till it comes back up!

Cheers Erin! Keep being as amazing as always!

I’m so glad the 30 Day Yoga Challenge is coming back! I often use the hip and hamstring sessions as guided stretches post-runs. I originally did these streaming via YouTube on my TV, because I find it much easier to follow along on the big screen. Will these be on YouTube on the Bad Yogi channel at all? Thank you so much!
