How to Find your Creative Spark
Sometimes I feel like a dam that is just about to flood over.
Like a balloon that is just about to explode.
Like a volcano about to erupt.
I can feel that I am full of movements I want to make.
Full of yoga I have yet to express.
Full of shapes I have yet to draw.
Full of words I have yet to write down.
Full of ideas I have yet to speak of.
Full of inspiration that I have neglected listening to for way to long.
It has been way too long.
Way too long.
And the only think I can do is make time for it.
Say to myself that only by unleashing all these things will I be okay.
Only with sharing my creativity can I keep myself sane.
Like Brené Brown says, “Creativity is the way I share my soul with the world”.
And that is the only thing I can do.
So, I will create. I will dance. I will sing. I will move and move and move. I will doodle. I will write. I will rhyme. I will talk. And I will share it with the world.
Because I am the only one that will be able to share those things.
As they live inside of myself.
Like Elizabeth Gilbert writes in Big Magic (and if you have yet to read that book, you must!):
“One of the oldest and most generous tricks that the universe plays on human beings is to bury strange jewels within us all, and then stand back to see if we can ever find them”.
So, create. Create away.
Share your soul with the world.
We will deeply appreciate it.
It need not be original. It need not be complicated. It need not be a masterpiece.
It can be simple. It can be beautiful. It can be whatever you want it to be.
Like one of Passenger’s beautiful songs, simply called Simple Song.
Here’s a simple song
Won’t stop the rain from coming down
Or your heart from breaking
Just a simple song
Never gonna turn this day around
Stop the earth from shaking
It’s just a simple song
Nothing right or wrong
You can sing along if you want to
So simple and so beautiful.
That is what I will do from now on.
I will relieve the burden of my soul and share it with the world.
I will create and create, for the sake of creating.
And I wish that you will do so as well.
