December Bad Yogi Spotlight: Mary K Thomas
Hello and Happy December Bad Yogi’s! Another month – another beautiful Bad Yogi to shed some light on.
This month’s Bad Yogi has been deemed “Conversation Starter” by Facebook on our PB members only (this is a thing apparently!). An overall sweet, sweet human, and whose comments have made me laugh a time or two on the Facebook page – I give you Mary K Thomas!
Q. How would your partner/closest friend describe you?
I asked my husband to answer this question, so he said, “You’re compassionate, family-oriented, and very protective of your family. People don’t know all the things you do for others with no thought for yourself and how it impacts you, but you do need your morning coffee delivery and bacon every Sunday. You would literally try to save the world if you had the means to do it.”
Q. How do you find motivation when it feels like you have NONE?
My Bad Yogi tribe is usually my motivation. I have them in my head, telling me to at least roll out the mat. I also try to remember that I will feel better and lighter when I’m done because I practice yoga for peace of mind more than anything.
Q. What do you think your purpose is?
I’d like to think my purpose is to sit on the beach and read while someone brings me margaritas all day, but the reality is that I’m still trying to figure it out. I think being good to others is part of it, so I listen when people talk and try to show them that I care. If I smile at someone as I walk by, perhaps that will be the only smile they get all day, and they will know they matter.
Q. Do you feel like you’re living it?
I am living that purpose, but I feel like there’s more ahead, and I have to figure out what it is. Getting there…
Q. If all food was ‘health food’ & there was no negative health impacts, what would you eat every day of your life?
Chips and guacamole, tacos, and cookies – probably in that order
Q. Chair pose for 1 minute or plank for 1 minute?
Q. What’s one fact that may surprise people, or that not many people know about you?
I’m an introvert, and I’m nice, so people assume I have no spine. The truth is I just like to go with the flow, but if something is important enough to me, I will definitely make waves. Also, I actually go by Mary K (like the cosmetics, but without the whole Kay lol). Most people call me Mary, and I realized it’s because online, no one hears me say my name !
Q. What do you wish you would see more of in the world?
Compassion. I wish people would try to be more mindful and attempt to understand the struggles of others.
Q. What do you love/appreciate most about the Bad Yogi Community?
The Bad Yogi Community is the nicest place on the internet. Everyone is upbeat and supportive. There’s no judgment, an abundance of encouragement, everyone appreciates a good laugh, and many share my love of a glass (or two) of wine.
