The Best Underwear for Yoga Pants (tried & tested!)

This is one of those topics that comes up a lot, but I’ve never blogged about it because I thought: how many people REALLY want to know what underwear to wear under yoga pants?

Turns out, a TON of you! When I put the callout for blog ideas, this one came up time and time again, so we’re clearly long overdue for a little girl talk.

Guys, you might want to come back later because we’re about to lift the curtain on every panty problem imaginable. <– there’s a sentence I never thought I’d be using!

Let’s get down to business!

These are ones I own and wear and can vouch for their awesomeness.

THONGS:

1) Hanky Panky Low Rise Thong.
Forgive the TMI, but I wear these almost every day of my life. I easily have  20+ pairs in every imaginable color and they’re by far my favorite for practicing yoga and just for life. They’re super fine lace so they sit really nicely against your skin which means there’s no visible lines. Admittedly, I have a couple pairs of leggings that are on the thin side and you CAN see the lines through the pants, but most times they’re perfect.

They’re one size fits all, but if you’re curvy or like to wear them a bit higher on your hips, their Original Rise Thong is another classic.

2) Commando Thong.
The Rolls Royce of underwear. They’re around the same price point as the Hanky Panky, but a different style. These are completely seamless and fit perfectly against your skin. They have a slightly different fit than the ones above, but are equally incredible. Keep in mind they run a bit small, so size up!

HIPSTER BRIEF:

1) Victoria’s Secret Hiphugger Panty.
These look WAY worse in picture than they look when you wear them, haha. They’re super soft and smooth, and on days where I only had these, they were super comfortable to practice in. They wash really well and will last you forever, too!

2) Under Armour Pure Stretch Hip Hugger.
These come with a caveat. These are good if you have a teeny tiny booty! If you have a little more shape, then they’ll probably ride while you practice. I wasn’t a fan of practicing in these, but if I’m just wearing these in leggings, they look great! They’re super smooth and comfortable, and there aren’t crazy lines. It’s just that they move around a little too much during sun salutations and that’s definitely not cool.

Shorts, Trunks, and More

1) TomboyX Tomboy Shorts
Here’s a recommendation from Alex, Bad Yogi Marketing/Biz Dev Assistant. These shorts are amazing for any person and any body type! They range in size from XS – 4X and have a bunch of inseam lengths too. I personally love the 2.5″ shorts, but there are some raving reviews for the others too. They’re cute as heck and never ride up or wedge in even the twistiest yoga poses.

Over to you! Don’t keep us in the dark! Do you have any awesome finds you want to share? Have you tried any of the above?

You left out the best ones. The Vanishing Edge panties from Soma. They’re good for running, yoga, hiking, all activities. They stay in place and they don’t show lines.

Hi there, the panty I love to practice in is the Vanishing Edge panty from Soma. Various styles, and all have a little silicone edging in the leg opening so it stays put!

Gap Breath thongs for practicing. Same material as their Gap Breath shirts (so good for a hot environment).

Marie, I am a little obsessed with them in every way – how they look, feel, and that they’re made by a badass lady-owned company in Washington. When Erin mentioned this post I was like, I MUST ADD THESE. Definitely check them out!
