Bad Yogi Spotlight: Q&A with Maria Aguilar
If you’re part of the ‘PBYP Members Group’ on Facebook- a group forum for accountability and support for folks who have bought PBYP– then you may know her best as Maria Noelia. One of our biggest supports within the Bad Yogi Community- also known as Maria Aguilar.
Maria’s been a longtime friend and supporter of Bad Yogi, so much so that within the community, some even know her as THE Maria Aguilar. Rumor is, it’s Erin’s fault, really…. but when you’re as epic as Maria, sometimes ‘THE’ just becomes part of your name.
This week, we’re here to highlight another shining star within the Bad Yogi Community, Maria Aguilar. Read on to hear what keeps her motivated, and what food she’d eat for the rest of her life if there were no ramifications.
Q. How would your closest friends describe you?
My friends would say I’m patient, supportive, and maybe too calm. An old boss told me once I’m so calm that I would someday walk into his office one day and say “there’s an alien invasion and they’re killing everyone, can we go home?” I was also told once I’m “too nice” and “I have to be a little more bitchy,” but I can’t. It’s not on my nature. In retrospect, is there such a thing as being too nice??
Q. How do you find motivation when it feels like you have NONE?
I clean! It might sound ridiculous but that’s my thing. As if clearing up clutter from my desk/closet or where ever helps me clear my mind too. I usually have a scented candle burning while I clean. When it’s all done, I feel so much better and ready to tackle my next project.
Q. What do you think your purpose is?
It’s my belief that our purposes are always the same, but how we execute it shifts as we go through life. In other words, there are different stages to our purpose. I think my purpose is to link and help others.
Q. Do you feel like you’re living it?
Since learned English as a little girl, I’ve been fascinated by languages. I’m using that to build bridges and connect people that don’t speak the same language. I found my place now at an immigration law firm. No better place to live my purpose.
Q. If all food was “health food” & there were no negative health impacts, what would you eat every day of your life?
I would eat chips and salsa/guacamole, and caramel rice cakes. Does anyone actually eat the serving size?!
Q. Chair pose for one minute or plank for one minute?
Q. What do you wish you would see more of in the world?
More kindness to one another.
Q. What do you love/appreciate most about the Bad Yogi Community?
I’ve told the BadYogi family this before but it has to be shared with the world…. This community is the place where you’ll find the nicest people on the internet! If you’re as lucky as I have, you will even meet some of these beautiful souls in person! Everyone is loving and caring. They genuinely care for each others well-being. I’ve received private messages from people checking on me on difficult times. And probably my favorite thing? We are spread all across the world. No matter what time it is in your corner of the world, there’s always someone to talk to, if you need. It’s truly amazing.
