Bad Yogi Friday Favorites Week 1!
Welcome to Friday Favorites! This post series is where I’ll pop in to share some of the absolute BEST things I come across in the week that are helpful, inspiring, fun, hilarious, interesting, relevant– anything. So stay tuned for some of the best (and I use the term “best” loosely) stuff on the internet from this Bad Yogi’s perspective.
This week, I’ve become majorly obsessed with…
1) Bullet Journaling.
What is it? “A customizable and forgiving organization system. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, and diary, but most likely, it will be all of the above.” Looks a liiiiitle complex at a glance, but is actually super intuitive and has been really helpful in keeping me on track during the day. I learned about it in a Buzzfeed blog post which is linked below, but in short: at the most basic level, it requires a notebook and pen, and at the most complex level, it leaves room for endless creativity, color, vibrancy, and personality. I fall in to the “ain’t nobody got time for that” camp and kept mine ultra simple, and I love it. Note: not my actual notebook below because mine is a hot mess and full of secret project notes for now (but stay tuned for more on that soon ;)) Go here to get the basics.
2) … which then led me to discover Leuchtturm notebooks.
And as a self-proclaimed notebook expert/hoarder, I became instantly obsessed and bought one on the spot. I’m not totally sure what it is, but it’s the perfect simple notebook. They’re about $14 here in France and incredibly sturdy. I love the simplicity and all the freedom the design allows, because while I don’t use it as my Bullet Journal, I do use it for other writing projects and it feels personal and sophisticated. If you care about that sort of frivolity, then definitely check them out 😉 They’re also available in the US but for much more for some reason! Find them on Amazon!
3) Summer produce!
The amount of peaches, apricots, oranges, and nectarines we’ve eaten this week is kind of unreal. I can’t get enough! What’s in season near you?
4) This billionaire’s wedding.
I was totally sippin’ that haterade and I had an absolute field day spewing “OMG HOW RIDICULOUS CAN YOU BE?!” about 10,000 times at this truly insane $2 MILLION dollar wedding… I mean, I get that this was probably just as much a publicity stunt as it was a wedding, but MAN ALIVE this is crazy. You gotta see the other pictures. Go here to see the other pictures… you know, if you’re in the mood to waste about 6 minutes.
5) The Euro2016 is HERE and it’s MASSIVE.
The Euro2016 is a major soccer tournament here in Europe. If you combined the excitement of the NBA championship and patriotism of the Olympics, you’d have the Euro2016. Fierce allegiance to your country combined with avid spots-fanning. It’s pretty epic and as a sucker for fanfare of any kind, I’m all about it.
Over to you! Did you discover anything note worthy this week? Anything good, fun, silly, smart, indulgent, or otherwise? Would love to hear from you!

Oooo I am definitely going to start bullet journaling. I’m a little OCD yet scatter brained all at the same time. So was born my love for lists and doodling. This week I fell in love with Jamaica. Not the Jamaica you see at resorts, though (even though that’s where I was staying/relaxing/enjoying). My husband and I journeyed out into REAL Jamaica and my interests have shifted from their brightly colored homes, to the tin self-made fences, to the obvious expertise in driving that trumps that of American drivers, to the Jamaican government. This week I’ve been all over the place, but one thing remains steady – I have fallen in love with all things Jamaica.

I like this blog series! I don’t have time or take time to surf the web so reading this was interesting. The most exciting thing I did this week happened this morning. I’m sure no one else will think it’s exciting and you may think this girl is crazy, that’s okay. We raise cows. We started out with 1 in 2009 and at the beginning of this year we had 6. We purchased 10 more and one of them had a calf earlier this week, making our total 17. Our original 6 are very tame and will come right up to you when they see you. The others not so much. Today I had to move all 17 to a new pasture by myself. Not a big deal it just meant opening gates and then wait for them to find the open gates (which meant I could do other things outside). When I open the gate of the pasture they were in one of the original 6 saw me and came running. The other 16 followed her. Then all 17 followed me as I walked through the gates (and they waited on me to close the gates behind them) all the way to where I wanted them to be! I wish I had thought to take a picture

oh my goodness! i’m still hung up on the fact that you raise cows! seriously, that’s the coolest.

I’m glad no one thinks I’m crazy!

I sooooo get this. We raise pigs, broilers and laying hens as well as a herd of dairy goats. There is nothing like it when they do what you want with no effort! Awesome

Yum bacon and eggs! We have thought about getting chickens.

Lisaz , I’m a farm girl…totally love it. The simple luxury of being in nature with animals is one of life’s joys. My daughter had recently converted to vegan though and I’m hit on her heals so here’s hoping they’re just lovely pets ?

Sorry some are beef cows that we sale and some are dairy that we milk.

Just read your post on bullet journaling – one whole HOUR later I can reel a borderline obsession coming on! And I’m thinking your beautiful pics of nectarines and apricots may somehow find their way inside it!

I’ve been curious about bullet journaling for a while, but I always think “mine is never gonna look that pretty” and never started one. you should totally show us yours once the secret project finally stops being so secret (soo looking forward to that btw. whatever it is 😉 ).
I feel a little sorry for you that Euro2016 is in France, but at least you’re excited about it ^^ here in Germany it’s everywhere too and I’m just not interested in football at all. I know that I should be more patriotic with Germany being World Champions etc… but to me it’s just really annoying and I usually root for whatever team is currently playing against us. 😉
I rediscovered smoothies this week 🙂 was in the mood for some (with peaches and strawberries etc. in season here too) and found some yummy recipes on pinterest + the idea to make smoothie freezer packs, which is awesome, especially now that it’s so hot outside the smoothies are ice cold 🙂 http://blenderbase.com/amazing-make-ahead-smoothie-packs/
also found this recipe & they are soo good: http://www.babble.com/best-recipes/food-hack-2-ingredient-froyo-bites/

ACTUALLY, I should clarify that I *was* excited and now that we heard people screaming in the street until 8am TODAY, I’m over it, haha 😉
Those inspire me to dig out my blender since it’s finally warm enough!

I’m spending some time with my parents before turning 30 and having such a relaxing time. This week I’ve loved sitting in the garden listening to the bees buzzing and the birds tweeting, feeding the ducks at the pond, and cooing over the baby chicks, and the feeling of grass between my toes.
Looking forward to the new blog series ?. Have a fabulous weekend. X

I love bullet journaling and I’ve gotten several of my friends into it too! When I was beginning and even still now YouTube and Instagram are full of amazing bullet journalers which is great for inspiration and you can tweek any idea to make it relevant for you. So much fun and so creative, love it! Also love my Leichtturm, it’s a beauty ?

Erin, I have been following you for quite some time. I am Brazilian living in Germany and it’s really impressive how people here are CRAZY for the EURO2016!!! I loved the Friday Favourites and I am definitely starting a Bullet Journal 😛

I am SO waiting for strawberries to ripen in the pick-your-own patch a few miles from my house. Every year I make homemade strawberry shortcakes.

My son just returned from a jazz tour in southern France and a short stop in Italy. You didn’t go see Blue Lake Jazz anywhere did you? He discussed food a lot and said peaches were a big favorite – he ignore my explanation they were in season. He loved the country, especially the architecture and natural beauty.
Reading about the farming and getting cows to follow sounds like our deer farm. We have about 85+ and when we change pastures, especially if they think a food treat is involved, we look like the Pied Piper with them following the 4-wheeler. Usually there are one or two that just find it difficult to allow you to finalize the entire move 🙂
Have begun to be a morning person with 6am Perfect Body Yoga Program – loving it!
Love you style Erin.
