When she was 17, Jess Dang found out that she had Hepatitis C while donating blood at a school blood drive. After a year of chemo, she was luckily considered cured from the virus. However, she still felt incredibly uncertain about her future health. She vowed that if she made it to 30, she would do something to help others lead their healthiest life, so in 2011 she quit her corporate job to start Cook Smarts. After a year as a cooking instructor and learning about people's main challenges in the kitchen, she launched a meal plan service to address those challenges. Every week, members are provided a doable, healthy weekly meal plan and grocery list and also improve their cooking skills while making dinner. Jess currently lives in Mountain View, California with her husband and 2 (soon to be 3) kids.
