3 Ways to Create More Peaceful Mornings
We lead a life of to-do-lists and schedules. Appointments and deadlines. The day starts off at high speed and often end in a crash. Crash meaning laying flat out on your bed wondering if you should take a shower or not. Should you even change your clothes or do you even have enough energy to pull the covers over yourself. Did you even make it to the bed or have you launched yourself onto the couch to remain there until morning. Do you even remember falling asleep?
Creating a space of peace and calm can be the perfect way to prepare your mind and body for a more peaceful day. Here are 3 simple tips that will help you create a space of peace.
Set your alarm clock to wake you up 10-15 mins earlier than you normally would.
These precious minuets will allow you to wake up easy and without rushing. Take this time to allow your eyes to focus and your mind to release the thoughts that you had while you were asleep. Do some light stretching before you ease out of the bed. Take a look out the window. What do you notice or what can do hear. Take a nice little body scan. Anything feel different this morning?
Enjoy a few moments of meditation
Lately I’ve been trying to incorporate mediation into my morning routine. This is not an easy practice for me but it does slow me down. It gets me out of the flow of rush.. rush get dressed, brush my teeth, prepare my lunch, oh crap did I take my vitamins and where the heck is my work badge, to a more chill and relax mode. Oh here’s my badge and I just remember, the office is providing lunch today so no need to pack! #focusedmind
Breakfast is often overlooked. Were already rushing to get out the door, taking time to enjoy breakfast is just a waste of time. Right? You’d be surprised what a mood changer breakfast can be. If your morning is full of appointments and meetings back to to back with no breaks in sight. Without breakfast your body starts thinking..”when is food coming?” Then your is brain like “yeah, what’s going on!” As you go from one meeting to the next you start to loose focus because your having a mental argument with your body. No lie, it happens. I know I’m not the only one to experience this body mind argument. A little time for breakfast would definitely solve this problem and prepare you to lead a more productive and peaceful morning.
